Many brands of cigarettes appear suddenly changing everything we know about smoking, thanks to the manufacturer’s intuition and knowledge. And the more they receive appreciation from smokers. Smokers are always looking for something new in every brand of cigarettes, new taste and new inspiration.
Rothmans is a brand of Rothmans cigarettes founded in 1890 by Louis Rothmans. Rothmans began his acquaintance with the production of tobacco products in Kiev. Until 1887, he learned this profession under the guidance of his uncle, who owned a tobacco factory. In the same year, the teenager immigrates to the UK. Rothman opened his first small cigarette kiosk in Fleet Street in England. Opening his own business coincided with his marriage. In marriage, he had a son, who would later become his partner and successor. His choice fell on this street due to the location of publishing houses and editorial offices on it. It was the journalists who became the first buyers of Rothmans.
Thanks to the right ratio of paper, tobacco varieties, cigarette sizes, Rothmans cigarettes have become popular among the English aristocracy. Just 10 years after opening the first store, Rothmans opened his showroom on the fashionable Poll Mall. All this time he continues to actively work on new brands of cigarettes. It was him who in 1906 created the first menthol cigarette.
The increase in sales of Rothmans cigarettes allowed Louis to open new stores: in 1903 he owned 6 stores. The export of cigarettes to Holland, India, Australia and the countries of South Africa begins. Thanks to the impeccable reputation of the company and its Rothmans cigarettes, in 1905 King Edward VII granted Rothmans a royal warrant. From that moment on, a pack of cigarettes is marked with the famous coat of arms, which has become the hallmark of the company. In the same year, Rotman’s company became the supplier of the English and Spanish royal dynasties.
What is noteworthy, Louis, without a significant start-up capital, independently starts making Rothmans cigarettes at night, and sells products under his own brand during the day. He used Turkish tobacco for the production of Rothmans cigarettes.
