A real man who loved beautiful women and good cigarettes was King Edward VII of Great Britain. As usual, the birthplace of the future king was Buckingham Palace, and this happened in 1841. Of the 69 years of his life, Edward was on the throne only the last 10, replacing his mother. Nothing prevented this event from having fun in the circle of charming women, spending noisy holidays and smoking expensive cigarettes.
Edward VII managed to try cigarettes quite early, but severe laws severely restricted smoke lovers from engaging in prestigious and fashionable smoking anywhere. In the presence of children and women, as well as in public places, smoking was strictly forbidden and was considered bad form. Although for a purely male company there was nothing better than a game of cards with a cigar in your mouth and a glass of strong whiskey.
Another obstacle to the free use of cigarettes for Edward was his mother, Queen Victoria, who stood rigidly on the old traditions. Due to the fact that cigars were an unacceptable hobby for the mother for the son, quarrels often occurred in the family. This mother’s attitude did much to strengthen Edward’s desire to enjoy Cigars and the company of women, and to allow everyone, without exception, to smoke freely wherever they wanted to. Edward’s dream came true in 1901 with his coronation. His first words became winged and took their place in historical literature. He said: “Gentlemen, you can smoke!”. Since that moment, cigars have become his constant attribute. Even when minting coins at the mint, no one tried to portray the king without a cigar. Even on the smallest palace coin, Edward is depicted with a smoking cigar in his mouth.
Such love was eventually noted – King Edward cigarettes are truly a royal item, they have a mild aroma and delicate taste. Edward VII preferred just such cigarettes. This brand has earned great popularity not only in the US, but also in Europe.
The personality of the British King Edward VII is inextricably linked with the history of the development of King Edward cigarettes. It was he who made every effort to popularize this hobby and provide more comfortable conditions for smokers. He devoted his whole life to fragrant cigars, for which he received a high award.
